Downloading Comps
What's a Comp? Comp is short for complimentary. We are, however, not serving up pleasant platitudes (My, you look great today!), but rather watermarked, lower-resolution versions of an asset for you to "test drive" in your time line or layout at no cost. In others words, we provide complimentary usage of an asset so you can try it before you buy it.
We extend this professional courtesy since many of you may need just to see how a clip or a still might fit into a project, or run it past a sponsor, client, creative director, editor, or whatever.
All Comps are watermarked, reminding you that to be actually used in a finished derivative work, it must be properly licensed. You may keep a Comp in your system for up to six months. After that, please remove it. You may, however, re-acquire a Comp at a later time. You may share a Comp outside of your Registered owner's organization, but only as imbedded within a draft of a project. Your associates wishing to obtain a Comp for their own use must acquire it directly from the website.
The Process:
You must be a Registered account owner for www.WeatherVideoHD.TV
Login using your user name and password.
Perform a Search for a clip or image that may meet you needs.
Mouse over the thumbnail on the search results page to call up the full Preview page.
Click on the "Add comp to download queue" button. The asset thumbnail will show up on the lower panel of the Review/Comps page. You may put as many items in the Comp queue as you wish.
When you want to actually download an item to your desktop, simply hit "Click on Download" and it will go to wherever you browser has directed it.
Note: You may have more than one collection of items stored as possible Comps. Each Review Bin that you create also has its associated Comps queue of the same name (but which may or may not contain the same items as placed in the Review Bins). Just create an additional Review Bin for each project if you wish to segregate Comp candidates for different projects.
