Title: Wavy Clouds Concept: Clouds undulate as waves propagate along top of cold air dome from prior thunderstorm. These can be classified as stratocumulus asperitas. Detail: The Cloud Appreciation Society successfully petitioned the World Meteorological Society to recognize a new variety of stratiform clouds - asperitas (aka asperatus). Meaning "roughened", the clouds resemble the surface of sea, and indeed mark the propagation of internal gravity waves within the inversion in which the cloud occurs. Video Credit: WeatherVideoHD.TV
